Laura Biagiotti launched her own clothing line in 1972. She thrived in a male-dominated industry, paving the way for her future female entrepreneur. In 1988, she presented a collection of silk and cashmere dresses and blouses at a fashion show in China, making her the first Italian designer to do so. The New York Times later dubbed her the "Queen of Cashmere," as her cashmere-knit outfits became a staple. She died of heart disease in 2017, after which her daughter took over her business.
