Tommy Hilfiger was born and raised in Elmira, New York. He is an American fashion designer. After his small chain, The People's Place, closed in the 1970s, he moved to New York City, where he began designing full-time. He founded the brand in 1984 and presented his first men's collection. Since then, the brand has grown and gained popularity with a large audience. Under parent company Estee Lauder, the brand launched his first fragrance in 1995.
