First Perfume

Van Cleef & Arpels' first perfume. With top notes of aldehydes, mandarin, blackcurrant, raspberry, bergamot and peach, Van Cleef & Arpels First is a rich and complex blend. Launched in 1976, this fragrance lives up to its name as it marks the company's foray into the fragrance world. Floral middle notes include carnation, hyacinth, orchid, tuberose, jasmine, orris root, narcissus, lily of the valley, Turkish rose and ylang-ylang. Ylang-ylang has a delicate, calming scent and is said to have aphrodisiac properties. Oakmoss, vanilla, honey, musk, sandalwood, civet, tonka bean, amber and vetiver complete the perfume as a blend of sweet and creamy base notes.

Van Cleef & Arpels began in France in 1906, but then expanded to the United States, opening its first boutique in New York. First Bottle represents the reign of a company known for its jewelry. The refined and feminine bottle still embodies the classic beauty of the fragrance.
